The Sun's Greatest Hits CD album represents the beginning of a movement in modern music history like no other—the birth of Rock and Roll. This exciting CD features 17 performances by various artists including Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Roy Orbison. No Elvis audio collection is complete if it doesn't include this important Rock 'n' Roll album!

Jul 28,  · Excellent 50's rock and rockabilly by some of the names that made these forms what they are. Elvis's work here is probably the best of his career. In an album brimming with great songs, my favorites are Elvis's "Mystery Train", Johnny Cash's "Folsom Prison Blues", Jerry Lee's "Great Balls of Fire" and Bill Justis's classic instrumental "Raunchy".5/5(3).

Posted by Gene on Dec 06, I purchased this CD several years ago. The CD is totally awesome. I later purchased the Elvis Sun CD. I also purchased the Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis & Roy Orbison 50th Anniversary CD's and Charlie Rich.5/5(1).

Focusing on Sun boss Sam Phillips' four top artists -- Elvis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis-- this hits package takes in some of the most important sides from the first days of rock & admabwingfannocul.bobscompthekusineticconfransrolltorre.coing country, blues, R&B, and rockabilly, these future legends brought the musical predilections of Southern teenagers to bear on the world.

There's no Elvis on Sun Records: 25 All-Time Greatest Hits (for copyright reasons, presumably), and the fact that the collection focuses purely on chart hits means that many album classics are neglected while some amusing but slight novelties (like Rufus Thomas' "Bear Cat") are included. Still, for sheer gritty classic old-school rock & roll, it's hard to beat this set.

THE SUN STORY-VARIOUS ARTISTS: After releasing legendary RNB sides like JUNIOR PARKER's MYSTERY TRAIN and RUFUS THOMAS' BEAR CAT, visionary Memphis producer/talent scout SAM PHILLIPS' SUN RECORDS hit paydirt with a rollicking rockabilly, gospel, and blues mix of "white artists who sounded black" including brash piano pounder JERRY LEE LEWIS /5(12).
